Job Description

Villara is currently seeking an Industrial Engineer who will design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing production and distribution processes, including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics, material flow, and cost/benefit analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Support fabrication shop, warehouse and fleet operations; promote efficient utilization of space, equipment, people and assets.
  • Collaborate with Fab Origination Department to release custom products to production, and manage plan revisions.
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to develop manufacturing methods, procedures, and equipment layouts.
  • Estimate production costs, cost savings and overhead burden, with respect to product design changes or new process design. Perform ROI analysis, including expenditures for management review, action plans, and accountability.
  • CAD expert, design/maintain layouts of plant, equipment, work cells & warehouse. Prepare building plans and support the permitting process.
  • Manage specification, sourcing and installation of warehouse equipment, including racking systems, lift trucks, scan guns and conveyor.
  • Coordinate and implement quality control procedures, including sampling plans, audits and corrective actions.
  • Apply MTM methods to determine production standards, successfully engage direct labor, and negotiate with management for adoption.
  • Apply Lean methods to reduce waste and improve productivity in 2 second, Kaizen and Kaikaku activities. Serve as a highly visible ambassador of Lean culture.
  • Confer with internal customers, vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, product and process specifications, manufacturing capabilities, bill of materials, change orders or project status.
  • Apply statistical techniques, analytical models and workplace methods to optimize manufacturing processes and staff requirements.
  • Develop an understanding of operations, organization structure and project information, and determine best fit for staff engagement and individual contributor responsibilities.
  • Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine process capability for components, sub-assemblies, and finished products.
  • Evaluate precision, accuracy and efficacy of production equipment and perform replacement analysis and manage upgrades and installations.
  • Develop machine scheduling tools to optimize workflows according to established manufacturing sequences, set up times and operator skills.
  • Formulate sampling procedures and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality data.
  • Implement methods and improve procedures for disposition of excess material and defective or discrepant parts, and assess disposition cost and recovery value.

To qualify, ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Previous Continuous and/or Process Improvement project experience a plus
  • Formal Lean Six Sigma training; Green Belt Certification preferred.
  • 3+ years Engineering experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt a plus
  • Experience with building plan submittals and permitting
  • Professional Engineering License preferred
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills.
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Must be proactive, creative, hands-on and innovative.
  • Excellent oral & written communication and presentation skills.
